With the use of both domestic and foreign n sources as well as the supervision of the SFDA and Ministry of Health’s Rational Use of Medicine Committee, Medicom has created China’s most authoritative clinical drug reference guide for use by medical professionals. It has over 20,000 drug names including all commonly used medications as well as emerging products in China and abroad and is available in two formats, MCDEX PC and MCDEX NET.
To ensure the most reliable and accurate information, the MCDEX program is composed by three main sources:
1.) Medical Information released by the Government
- Over 206,000 SFDA approved drugs, including the basic drug properties, generic name, trade name, delivery mechanism, specifications, factory of origin, approval number, country drug coding, and management properties.
- A collection of approximately 43,000 drug inserts approved by the SFDA that covers the use and precautions of the drugs.
- More than 70 articles published by state authorities on clinical guidelines for specific drugs that include diagnosis, treatment practices and related information.
2.) The Independent Development of the Database
All data is built on a definite, reliable foundation using a scientific and systemic approach. Data is acquired from authoritative and evidence based clinical research from both China and abroad and extensive drug monographs to ensure a complete, accurate, scientific and up-to-date database.
The SFDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation has compiled the most complete database of drug monographs on the market. This compilation of drug monographs has led to the creation of both the “China Pharmaceutical Reference” and the “The Chinese Doctor and Pharmacist Clinical Medicine Guide”. It currently has over 4,000 drug monographs covering nearly 6,000 generic drug groups and 90,000 drug names to be the most authoritative and practical clinical drug database.
A Comprehensive database of drug-drug and drug-food interactions that includes drug interaction results, mechanisms, clinical treatments, severity level, and discussions. MCDEX includes over 5,000 articles on drug interactions covering more than 8,000 generic drugs and over 47,000 drug names to make it the most comprehensive database of drug interactions.
MCDEX offers a comprehensive collection of IV and syringe compatibility information including physical and chemical properties, preparation methods, compatibility of the physical, chemical and pharmacodynamic changes, and lab work data compatibility. MCDEX contains over 20,000 articles on IV compatibility monographs, covering more than 1,500 generic drug groups, and 28,000 drug names.
MCDEX explains in simple language drug use and application, possible issues and other notable facts that health care professionals can use to easily counsel and educate their patients. It was designed to both improve patient knowledge and compliance. MCDEX includes over 1,600 articles on drug education monographs, covering more than 7,800 drug names.
3.) Gradually Incorporate More Domestic and Foreign Medical Research to Create a Well-Known Drug Database

The Ministry of Health’s Rational Drug Use Committee of Experts as well as numerous other official establishments were involved in the development of the database.
All data in MCDEX was gathered in a systemic, scientific fashion so that is has a clear and reliable base.
